The 20-year-old female singer-songwriter, Isobel Holly, shared the debut ‘Florescence’ album with over 50 audiences at her debut Newcastle gig on February 17.
Isobel expresses female emotion in ‘Florescence’. The inspiration of the songs in this album both comes from her personal life. She incorporated her experiences of life stages into songs so that she expresses her feeling and emotion in them, such as Everything and Blame.
Everything is a song that Isobel wrote for one of her family members who face a tough time with mental health. She said, “i written this song for her and anyone who went through a tough time, and want to tell these people that they never get alone.”
She also recommends people to listen Blame. “Blame is a strong song because it integrates many instruments and has an explosive force,” Isobel said, “I written this song after I broke up, so I took my emotions out on this song.”
Isobel talked about some difficulties as a female singer. She considers herself lucky but has encountered some problems sometimes. She is studying for a degree in Popular Music at the Royal Northern College of Music. “There are five girls in my year”, she said, “sometimes it’s tough to put your opinion in class and for mental expect the same way to respect each other.”
Isobe and her band are on a UK tour to promote her debut album. Newcastle is the third site of the UK Tour of ‘Florescence’. This activity also is a debut Newcastle gig for her. She began the UK Tour in Manchester on February 12, and then will tour Birmingham, Bath, and London on February 18, 21 and 22.
“Go for it, be brave in the face of difficulties, and don’t let yourself regret.” Isobe said to girls who pursue their dream just like her.
